Lofts321 Project

The Shell R. Smith Building (317-325 W. Jefferson Street) has housed
various businesses in the past 90 years. Rockford Business College
once filled the second floor with classrooms and offices.

Six loft apartments were designed and built within the demolished second floor space, with features such as open floor plans, exposed beams and brick, hardwood floors, concrete countertops and large windows
to offer the latest trend
in modern urban living.

Stainless steel appliances
along with high efficiency furnaces
and central air satisfy the
energy-conscious city dweller.

Some units have skylights,
and one has a spiral staircase
leading to a first floor studio area.
A winding hallway provides
wall space for art displays. Indoor parking is available.

Located in the West Downtown Rockford Historical District, 317-325 W. Jefferson
has been designated as a "certified historic structure" by the National Park Service.

Urban Equity Properties, the general contractor on the Lofts 321 project,
sees historic preservation as a priority to help Rockford
maintain its character and revitalize the city.
